Vietnam ranks 6th place in the world, 2nd in Asia and 1st in ASEAN region about export of wood and wood products in August and in the first 8 months of this year, the local newspaper VOV reported.
The information was provided by the Commerce and Industry Information Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, VOV said.
In details, Vietnam exports $432 million worth of wood and goods products in August, increasing the total export value of these products to $3.34 billion in the first 8 months of the year.
In which, exports to the U.S market takes the highest portion with more than $1 billion or 36.7%, up 7.24% on year. Vietnam mainly exports chairs, beds made from pine wood, tables and wardrobe to the U.S market. China ranks second as Vietnam’s importer of wood and wood products with $491.3 million, up 14.71% on year, the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development (MARD) provided.
In 2013, the country is forecasted to export $5.5 billion worth of wood and wood products, rising 10% from 2012.
